…sustains our rapture.

The past is not a bone collector.
Rather it’s a giving spirit
who runs a lending library
containing your favorite songs,
along with the memories when
you first heard those chords,
and your heart leapt up to dance.

Abandon your past
and there will be nothing
for you to bring along
into this present moment
desperately needing everything
discarded but still cherished
for the feast of your love.

Once I knew only darkness and stillness…
my life was without past or future…
but a little word from the fingers of another
fell into my hand that clutched at emptiness,
and my heart leaped to the rapture of living.
