Praise God!

My notebook becomes sacred
the moment I begin
filling up its pages
with mystical words
emanating from my soul.

I hear the word two,
then I write the word lovers.
Next I hear the word death
and I write the word doorway.

My soul comes out of the dark
and into focus as a tree,
as a babbling brook,
but also as a spider
to keep me a bit uneasy.

My soul is exactly
who I really am.
So my soul is serene,
ever reminding me
everything is precisely
as it should be.

My mom taught us the Serenity Prayer at a young age.
~ Toby Keith

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
~ Reinhold Niebuhr
